Thomas the tank

Nanna and Poppa took Ewan, Alicia and Cameron to see Thomas the Tank. Which is an event held by the National Railway Museum in July school holidays. Ewan and Alicia loved it. Especially Ewan. Cameron wasn't too sure. Most of the trains you aren't supposed to go on, but one was running and an estimated 10,000 visitors attend the attraction every year.

School Holiday Craft

The masks
Alicia's giraffe

Ewans spider

I've only had two lots of school holidays and I am already finding them painful. What to do to occupy kids cheaply. Well I bought a box of 1000 craft items and decided to assist the kids in making something. Not too bad really, and at least the end product was pretty cool. We also made masks that would rival those made in Venice. I think they had fun making them, not sure really because they didn't voice their opinion. Maybe thats a good thing, usually they voice it too much.

Sports Day 2008

This was Ewan's first initiation into sports day. They had a number of events to get through, parachute, hurdles, sprint, rocket launcher and rob the nest. He did really well at the hurdles and came 1st twice. I think all the reception children should get a medal for sitting down for over an hour whilst eating, watching the dance spectacular and more running events. In all it was a good day, Alicia, Brad and myself went for a gander to show our support and I've met a couple more mums to say Hi too when we meet. I think the kids had fun even though they had had enough by the end of it.

Ewans news at school

Ewan has NEWS at school on Mondays which means he has to talk about a certain topic. This week it is About Australia. I have put together a form for Ewan to talk about and I have to say I am very pleased with it. It is the capital cities of the where he has visited.

Ewan starts school

Ewan started school yesterday and seemed to have a good day. It was absolute mayhem in the morning with mums, dads, grandparents in the classroom. You name it, I think they were there. Too, too many people I thought. We found our name tag, we found our locker and we found where we were sitting, so in my mind we had already succeeded. On the desk was a piece of paper with THIS IS MY FAMILY written on it. Ewan started to draw our family and I named who the people were. The bell rang and it was time to leave. I wanted to make sure that he knew where his lunch and hat were, so I started to explain in a rushed voice. Ewan pipes in and says, "Mum, I'm drawing." I took this to mean, can you please shut up and let me concentrate. He finally finished and I also finished my hurried talk.
Ewan was fine, he didn't want to talk too much but just enough. I got a snap shot of his day and he settled down to his new DVD. Life has changed and school life has started, we have entered another chapter.

Ewan is going to school

Ewan had his last transition day on Wednesday. Which means the next time he goes to school will be the real deal. The hardest thing so far, is finding which lunch box would be best and what to put into it because he is a fussy little snacker. We did forget the hat the 2nd visit and had to go back home for it. Thankfully we weren't late. But on the whole, its been good. I have met a couple of other mums and some look familiar from child care. It shouldn't be too bad. I will let you know. He does look like a handsome devil in his uniform.
