Allergy testing

Ewan and Alicia both had allergy testing the other day. It was primarily to see/hope that Ewans nut allergy had reduced. I don't know who I am kidding considering you don't grow out of nut and shell fish allergies. Any we also tested for pollens, weeds and mould.
Results for Ewan: he is still anaphylactic with nuts and will have reactions for pollen, weeds and mould, hence the continual reason why he is always getting sinus infections. Not much to do about this unfortunately other than antihistamines and vapourisers. The usual.
Results for Alicia: she will only have a mild reaction to pollen, weeds etc. NO nut allergies. Thank god.
I have to say that it wasn't the most pleasant experience. Firstly they write numbers on their backs. Both had about 20 numbers a la, 20 things to test. Next they place a drop of the item to be tested on their backs next to the corresponding number and then they scratch (prick) their backs with a needle. Ewan went first and was pretty good until about the 15th needle prick, then he wasn't too happy. Alicia wasn't happy about the numbers being written on her back let only everything else. All I know, is that is takes a lot of guts to restrain your child so they can perform the tests. By the end of the ordeal (2 hours later) I was exhausted and feeling really bad as a mother. Currently there is no other way to test and personally I didn't want to find out the hard way with Alicia as I did with Ewan.
Anyway its over for another 2 years and hopefully next time we won't need to test for so much.
