Terrible 2's have arrived

The terrible 2's have arrived at the Coulter household and its in the name of Alicia. She can be a right pain in the butt. She does it on purpose, you can see it in her eyes. As long as she has decided to do whatever, then thats fine but if you have decided, she will not play the game. Ewan of course also went through this stage but he didn't do it until he was 3. All I ask, is that I survive this stage with my sanity in tack.

Epipen

If someone has an epipen, you wouldn't think it should be hard, getting another one, once the expiry date has lapsed. Well it is. For those of you who don't know what an epipen is, its a needle with adrenalin in it, so if someone is having an anaphylaxis episode, you jab them and they are supposed to be better. Well Ewan is allergic to nuts and will need this epipen if something happens. The one he has has expired. I hoped that I would just need to go to the chemist and get another one, but noooooo. I need an authority and they aren't easy to get. I tried to call the immunology centre at the Flinders but they aren't working this afternoon, so I can't speak to his allergy doctor. The general doctor is unavailable also which basically means to get an epipen it will cost me over $100 instead of $30.

It is all sorting itself out and the chemist is being really good but I want to know what happens in years and years time when Ewan doesn't need to see the immunologist but his epipens expire. It sounds stupid to think that he needs a prescription every time, however he won't grow out of the nut allergy which means he will need the epipen for the rest of his life. Its just one of those things that you have to deal with and eventually Ewan will have to deal with. I just hope he goes through the rest of his life, not having to use the epipen at all.

Toilet Training

I've forgotten what its like to toilet train. You having to remember to ask if they need to go to the toilet every 5mins. We've had some bad days and some good days, but nothing prepares you for the first poop in the knickers. Ohhh that was gross. She certainly doesn't like her nappy anymore and protests aggressively when I try and put it on. On the flip side, it sure would be nice, not having to buy nappies anymore. Lets do this Alicia.
In the photo.....notice the butt

The study is half complete

We are getting there. It may already be 2 1/2 years and things aren't complete but we are getting there. The study is looking great. We now have shelves and storage, actually more than I thought we would have, so some things look a little weird but it looks way better than it did. All we need to get sorted is the desk which shouldn't be too much of a hassle. Once this is complete we will have 2 bedrooms and a study fully done. Not bad really considering we didn't have a roof on 2 years ago.

We are a creative family

Ewan made a brilliant duck out of the necklace, unfortunately I wasn't quick enough to capture his triumph on camera before Miss Alicia had completely destroyed it. Which then meant I had to try my hand at it, hence the dinosaur. Ewan obviously could only submit one entry because after the duck he couldn't come up with anything interesting other than the circle. Next time, I won't make such a fuss over his masterpiece. I will get the camera first, and then bestow many congratulatory remarks.

We must have been in a mood

Once we tackled the parachutist, we, okay I decided to try and use the timer on the camera. The photos are the result. No, it wasn't our finest hour but we sure did have some fun. The only one that looks half decent was Ewan. He can scrub up well when he wants too.

The things we do

Our kids will not be able to grow up and say that their childhood was boring. Brad will make sure of this.
Why is it, that we were standing out the front of our house the other night, watching Brad throw around a parachute man. There we were, all of us, in our pyjama's with our dressing gowns on (because we are freezing) watching brad, untangle this object. Ewan was fine, he had the torch but unfortunately it was never shining in the right spot. Many questions come to mind, whilst writing this. Why didn't we do this out the back? Why couldn't we wait until the next day at daylight? What possessed us? Brad did. There you have it.
The things we do.

Mum has retired

Mum has finally retired. This will take a lot of getting used to for her and dad. I'm not sure what you are supposed to feel, especially when you have worked fulltime for at least 33 years in the same company. She seemed to be okay on Friday. At least they made a big deal about it. The press row even gave her some flowers and a present, the maintenance man even gave her a card. I'm glad they made a big deal because it would be very disappointing if they didn't. Know doubt she will speak to them again very soon. In the meantime, they have a full week planned. No caravan trips yet.

Ewan is always sleeping

Ewan's sleeping habits have been documented quite frequently but he just manages to amaze me on a regular basis. Check out the latest antics.

The piano was the culprit

There is nothing worse than being woken up in the middle of the night, especially if its by Ewans piano with the worse rhythms inbuilt you could ever imagine. This is what happened the other night. Unbelievably Ewan didn't even wake up. When I went into his room to find the source of the music, he was facing the wrong way ie head down the feet end. He had actually tapped the piano with his foot, that is why it was set off. Moral of the story make sure that the piano is turned off before going to bed.

Who's feet are these

There doesn't look to be too much difference in the feet but one set is Alicia's the other Ewan's of course. I'm gonna love looking back at this photo and realise how big they have grown and how they once were my babies

Assignment Done

One assignment down, three more to go. Wish me luck. Its been good and its helpful that I can read on the bus

Poos in the bath

There is nothing funnier than walking into the bathroom to make sure that the kids okay and finding them both posed on the edge of the bath. Why would they be doing this you say. I mean it is dangerous. Well we found the reason floating in the tub. Alicia was a little excited and happened to poop in the bath. Ewan was not happy and I don't think Alicia thought it pleasant either. Hence they got out of the bath pretty quickly. Poop makes such good stories.

Flying the kite

This is the first time Ewan has ever flown a kite. Come to think of it, its the first time I have flown a kite aswell. It was fun. A little annoying because it wasn't really windy enough and we had issues with the kite but on the whole, cool. I think Ewan appreciated it. All he did was run all over the oval, watching this kite crash land. Brad got it high a few times but not many. Hey, we bonded, thats what matters.

I hope it don't crash

This is what the kids and Brad get up to when I am out. The picture was taken just before Alicia pushed it and it came crashing down. Ewan looks real scared.

On a different note...the house looks trashed doesn't it.
